  • Paul Glazebrook at the Kesgrave end of Ipswich.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

This chap used to live in York but now just outside Durham. He only does hand wired valve amps, told me he got fed up of diagnosing dodge connections on circuit boards. He did a couple of mods on my VHT special 6 and made the little thing come alive for £35.

My local shop (Wildwire Music in Selby) use a local tech who can service and re-bias valve amps. I've not used him myself but I have a Laney that needs sorting out so will do soon.

    Hi Corvus

I don't have his number to hand at this precise moment but I think he's on holiday at the moment.....I was waiting for a few weeks before I take an amp over for him to service.  I'll email him now and get back to you....

    Cheers

    Hi Nick

I couldn't find anyone I was happy with in the Norwich area (I live near GY), so I travel to a chap in Houghton Regis near Luton. He's brilliant and cheap, so for me it's worth the journey!

David Russell at Houghton Regis, near Luton. Repairs and mods all sorts of amplifiers and builds his own hand wired valve amps. Also makes a great cup of tea!

You can get him on dave@ampbuilder.co.uk or 01582 868017.

OXFORDSHIRE : Allan Gardner at Amgard Electronics,  highly recommended for all amp and pedal repairs and mods. He knows his stuff and excellent value.  Yesterday I got a sneaky peek at Allan's prototype hand-wired Studio Tweed 20 amp, whilst picking up my amp.  Best and quietest amp I've heard in a longtime.

SOUTH WALES - Big Up for Anthony at TubeDistinctions who is based in South Wales (Hengoed to be precise). He has totally transformed my Bogner, fixed the clicking and gave it a check over and replaced/rebiased power amp valves. Even went as far as checking each preamp valve for correct operating range. This guy is also the Voodoo amp Mod agent for EU so knows his stuff inside out. Site look slike a Hi-Fi buff, but he's an avid guitar player too, we talked for a good 45 minutes about gear!!
