New Vox Night Train Amps

Vox has announced new versions of the Night Train series of amplifiers. There's a 50W with EL34, and a 15W with EL84. Both have reverb. And good news - FX loop too.

I keep meaning to try out the 50 watt one. I had an NT15 and matching cab and thought the basic tone was good but it got very scratchy with the master turned right up. I suspect that wouldn't be a problem on the 50.

They should make a 100 watt version though with massive transformers...

That combo looks like a suitcase. I suppose all combos do a bit but you would look more like you are off to a B &B in Morecambe than to play a gig.

Hmmm... that was my thought as well ICBM but I thought I'd rather keep quiet than voice my minority views!

Gotta give Vox credit though, they know what sounds sell amps these days.

I wouldn't put too much stock in those kind of vids. They always sound bad! I bet in the flesh you could coax some good sounds out of it. Still, a 100 watter with more girth and headroom is the first thought I had when I watched the vid...

I found it pretty underwhelming too!

& the combo looks like carry-on luggage!

I loved the original 15w head, so keen to try the combo. Would look good in a living room too. You could always change the handle to a regular Vox-style one

Oh damn it, I have often said I like my Lil Night Train except I wished that it had a better cab (or a combo), reverb, and a loop. Now they go and make one so I'll have to gas for it
