It's based around an already dated Mackie Digital X Bus but I like it, it works as it should...

No, I'm not...I did study audio engineering and worked as a forensic audio specialist for 4 years though. 

I love being behind the desk and some people say I should be a producer. It's a dream I don't think I have the balls to chase, if you know what I mean

Is that a Fostex 8 Track ?  You using that as well?

it is indeed, a mate just gave me the R8 and Mixer , interesting options abound

It's all routed through the Digidesign 003r

Cool....I used to have the Tascam 8 Track then a Fostex 16 track, are you using something to sync it to the digital stuff?

Not yet ,  only connected it all up today , sync setup is for after xmas , got an EP with a talented singer songwriter to finish first and thats all in the Box at the mo

Sounds good, I kept my SMPTE code generator for years, then gave it away ! I'm assuming current software can generate a time code....I will check , I use Presonus Studio One. Quite fancy tape again ..
