Idiot's guide to midi?

I've just acquired an AdrenaLinn 3. Lovely pedal and has some amazing fx, but it's not exactly intuitive to set up or easy to switch patches on the fly. So I'm thinking some sort of midi control might be useful. I'm hoping maybe I can hook up my line 6 M13 to work with midi too. Is there a guide anywhere to what I need and how to set things up? Ideally I want to save patches and have live control of some of the effects through an expression pedal.

have you got the soundtower software for the linn?

it'll enable you to set the cc status and such.

No. I got it s/h and it didn't have any software discs with it.

they don't come with it unfortunately - you can download a trial to update the firmware and such (just won't save)

it can manage the midi cc settings and if they're passed through etc.

This thread is just what I need, I like the idea of a looper/midi controller but I find it strange how a press of a switch can make the Timeline change to a different effect when none of them has labels and some don't have LCD...is there like a common command that they all share such as press once to play, press twice for next effects and 3 times to go back?

Just bought the DPC5 from the Classifeld...now I need midi cables.

 

Where do I get relatively short ones from?

 

Need two around 45cm to and from the DPC5, and need a really short from going from Timeline to BigSky which is next to each other.  I can't seem to see any thing that is like 20cm long

I bought the angled cables from disasterareaamps.com. Great because you can use the at various angles etc

Not sure kabl likes the angled midi connectors though. He didn't when I asked anyway
