The 2 Tone Village in Coventry this afternoon. Am currently pacing up and down, looking on here and going to the loo.
A gig of mixed fortune. Massive disorganisation meant we only played one set basically after most people had gone home. Not sure we really played our best either. :(

On the plus side we played The 2 Tone Village which was an ambition fulfilled, the few people seemed quite receptive, we met Neville Staple ( of The Specials) and H ( original drummer with The Selecter although our keyboardist knew him anyway), we had our photo taken for the Coventry Evening Telegraph, we got paid and my rellies who came had a really lovely meal at the nearby Turkish restaurant ( from which I had a really lovely takeaway after the gig). :)

At the SW4 festival on clapham common - an afternoon show today.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Daytime annual bikers' festival at the Histon British Legion noon till 4:30 today. Trouble is, it's with the acoustic duo Cherry On Top and the (brilliant) singer specialises in 80s pap pop! Not ideal programming for a bikers' festival! Hopefully they'll have mellowed with age...

They will love it, everyone seems to think bikers all want full on rock bands but they don't.
I go to Stormin every year and to me Ska bands go down the best, have everyone jumping, dancing and singing as that's all they want to do, have a drink and sing and dance.
We play funk and soul etc and the place was bouncing when we played Master Blaster, Ain't Nobody etc etc :)

  • Having a good run of gigs lately, been out the last couple of Saturdays, and more this week:

Out tonight (Thursday) with Playback at The Punchbowl in Warwick.

Cracking pub and always a great night.

This Saturday I'm with Blinkwatch at The Duck in the Pond, Long Itchington (near Southam). A new venue for us that one.

I'm trying to remember, is that on the pedestrian bit, near the big supermarket? Think my covers band might have played there years ago.

Sounds like it. Had new management this year. My friend's band are backing up Roddy from the Specials there soon which is a fairly big act for a little pub.

Just to add - I don't think Rugby town centre is shite, just that on a Saturday night it seems to be basically dead except for yoofs in hoodies, late night shoppers at Asda and this pub.
