Urban Hymns was about as big as it got at the time - yet the success (and indeed the band) didn't last long.
I can't say I've followed anyone from The Verve in the intervening years - the last time I came across Nick McCabe was a track on John Martyn's 'On The Cobbles' which he played on - but this is a sad state of affairs.
I hope his circumstances improve.
I met Nick once in a dubious underground social location in Islington.
