  • Q1:  Where did you username come from? A long long time ago, my friend just suggested it as a name on a video arcade machine, and whelp it just stuck. It's my name on other music forums so I guess it helps when cross referencing with people.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you? I'm in the Midlands, very near Birmingham, UK.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition? Mostly to jam about with my friends and make weird sounds, hopefully on some sort of stage some day.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? Ugghhh too hard, although I have sentimental attachment to a pedalboard my grandad and inbuilt into a leather suitcase, it's also pretty nifty.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Uggggggghhhhh even harder. Currently I'm jamming hard to Friends With Lofts by Netherfriends.

  • Hi all! New here after hearing about the forum on 4:52am... So, here goes...

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

Simple - first name, last initial and the best year ever!

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

I'm in Berkshire, in the UK...

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

To play guitar the way I do it best - pure and simple...

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Difficult one - probably my latest guitar! To be honest, I've got so many bits of gear that I wouldn't want to be without, and they all contribute to 'my' sound, but it all comes from the guitar to begin with

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

That one's impossible to answer - it can change at an

  • Hi all, been lurking on this site for a month or two, so figure it was about time to join, plus I could possibly start working on my GAS, funds permitting ;)

Q1:  Where did your username come from?

Had no idea what to put. So what does one do when they are out of ideas for a name...ask the wife (don't judge me). It was catchy, even though I have yet to own a bonified Fender 'guitar', bass is another story.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

London, via way of the Caribbean

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

To make music...well actually, to be able to improvise and just be able to play spontaneous music with people

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

My fingers...but if we were talking about basses...

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

The first thing that popped into my mind was Romantic Warrior, by Return To Forever, so thats what I'm going with.

Hi dudes, I'm Lee. I've been playing guitar for a looooong time (25 years or so). Grew up as a metal head, but I listen to all sorts of stuff now. Love practicing, talking about playing, learning new tricks, etc. Not much of a gear head (I don't really care about equipment). Look forward to shooting the breeze with you guys.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

    M'mum!

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    Brighton, UK.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Too old for that sort of thing. I just enjoy playing, learning, and hopefully improving.

Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

I guess my Ibanez Petrucci model(s). Just love them sonofaguns.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Cruel and impossible question! I'll say Dream Theater - Metropolis part 1 to keep the young me happy.

  • Hello chaps, i'm Pete, been playing bass for thirty years just about, never had a lesson, riddled with bad playing technique, didn't really do the theory, the scales, the boring bit, just picked it up and learned to play along with punk records.  Played all over Europe in my band, released five albums, but finally realised that I really enjoy playing the bass and it's time I learned the mechanics of it all.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

I'm Pete, originally from (West) Norwood

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    Pevensey, UK.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Reform my band, play another gig

Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

    My Cort Bass

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Ain't really got one track, but I suppose Bowie's Five Years would have to be one of the main tracks of my life

Lying in the dark not far away, there's a little old man in an allyway, slipping away from the pain and cold so his tale of a devil will never be told!

Hey there, I've been playing... to long  -  in my bedroom, that is. Never performed with a band or busked etc. Never had a lesson either. Very much a casual thing for the most part, but starting to get more serious about playing the last few years or so.
Musical tastes: pretty much 80% hard rock, going back to the late 60's, (GnR, Satriani, Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Van Halen, Oasis, etc),with the remainder a bit of pop, classical, and 'other'.

Q1: Favourite WWF/E wrestler and childhood hero
    Q2: New Zealand
Q3: Write & record a full album and tour/conquer the world
Q4: Only gear I have - Ibanez RG guitar, played through Guitar USB, using Guitar Rig software
Q5: Tough question. I'll say Supersonic by Oasis.

Here's me playing 'Always...' High E string is a little out of tune

Hello, I'm Bassbiscuits, and I'm new here. As you can tell from the user name, I'm originally a bass player, tho I've been playing guitar almost as many years (going on for 30 years now - yikes!) so I'm pretty evenly divided between the two.

I'm from South Wales but live in Leicestershire these days.

Musical ambition? Just writing and playing something memorable or meaningful I guess. I play in a good few bands usually as bassist and singer, some just covers and some just originals, and it gets me out about playing with some stunning players in some unforgettable, amazing situations, which is a good balance I find.

Best bit of gear? Well, probably my Fender P bass to be honest, as that's where I earn most of my keep, tho I do have a couple of strats, a Bernie Marsden PRS and a howling Epiphone Casino which I'm itching to gig.

Fave tune? As a musician - Peter Heycock's "Dr Brown I Presume", which I've been attempting to learn for about 20 years. As a regular human - The Communards "Don't Leave Me This Way," just cos it's so exciting, tho it no idea of its guitar/bass musical merits!

Anyway that's me. I'm also quite active on another forum called Basschat.co.uk, under the same user name etc, where I've bought far more gear then is strictly wise, but hey life's too short eh.

Look forward to getting to know you!

I've been referred to this forum by a friend because of some gear on sale I'm looking for, I think it will be a pleasant stay.
