Punk Rock wot we like...

Much as I love Rock, Blues and Metal... Punk makes me wanna dance. 

I thought I'd start a thread for fellow punk fans to share their discoveries/gems...

To get the ball rolling- I saw Menzingers and The Smith Street Band play in Glasgow a week or two ago, both are great, both are virtually unknown in the UK.

I LOVE Rancid.

Matt Freeman is the reason I play bass, suffice to say that I'm a bit excited about their new album.

They're not reinventing the wheel, but I still love the sound of this. (I was dancing round the kitchen whilst listening to it just now).

Not a huge fan of punk but I also listen to Rancid - solely for the incredible Matt Freeman, I can take or leave the rest of their sound.

I'm looking through my iTunes library for punk bands I can add to this thread, and there aren't many. I have Big Black under punk in my rigorously-sorted library where not a thing should be out of place. I absolutely LOVE Big Black but I'm still not totally sure they should be there (not sure where else they'd go though)... it's weird, I'm normally not too anal about genres except where iTunes is concerned .

I have a lot of what is generally referred to as pop-punk, but I assume most punk fans would throw up at those bands.

I'm not too sure on Rancids recent streaming of their new album. Let the dominoes fall and this one come across kinda flat. For me their most diverse album "life won't wait" is firm one of my favorites.

I had the pleasure of touring with some great punk bands, be it pop/ska etc. My fave was wobbly bob and Vice Squad.

Playing more US Post Punk style these days with my new band and don't get a chance to do covers anymore. Was a fun afternoon recording these as I got to play guitar all day and do all the recording.

Another massive Rancid fan here, and I've got into a few of the bands on Hellcat as well (Dropkick Murphies, Transplants, Lars Friedricksen and the Bastards) - also used to religiously pick up the Fat Wreck Chords samplers getting into almost anything NOFX-ish.

Oh, and can't possibly leave out Bad Religion, or Neck...and I guess some of Social Distortion's stuff counts as 'punk'...and Less Than Jake...actually, I'm more punk than my hair would have you believe.

Can't stand a lot of the commercial 90s punk like Rancid, Green Day etc. but I do love Bad Religion's stuff up until the mid 90s.

Excellent shout on the Cardiacs, although I'd have said they were a little too 'out there' to be properly punk...and I can't believe I forgot The Distillers, one of the best punk bands of the last twenty years.
