Guitarguitar isn't opposite the zoo I'm afraid! It's reasonably nearby but still a bit of a trek.
within 3 mins walk at least. Both in costorphine and i've done it a few times

    Umm, no. :P

I live in Corstorphine. Its nearly a mile from the zoo to guitarguitar. If you can even run it in three minutes then I look forward to seeing you in Rio in two years :D

Bloody hell, really?! Never felt like it! (Probably the promise of GAS paradise makes the walk seem shorter)
Unrelated, i have done a 4min 28sec mile before. And that fucking sucked.

Mostly shopping, camera obscura which was well worth doing! We were gonna do Opium but my aunt veto'ed that. Only there for 2 days, but may well go back for new years!
Went to Pulp, which is a great band merch shop and cockburn street et al.

Had a really good time :)

Calton Hill and Arthur's Seat are good if you like a bit of the great outdoors.
Watch when you go to Calton hill. It's a gay cruising spot after dark...

The missus is whisking me up to Edinburgh next week. Some great locations and areas to see have been mentioned in this thread. The only problem (for me but not apparently for her) is that she is a massive fan of the fictional detective Rebus and she is looking for Edinburgh locations from the books. At least I'll  get a drink in The Ox (The Oxford Bar). Please recommend me some guitar shops!

    @StanleyAccrington ;;

Here's a list of filming locations for Rebus:

    http://edinburgh.org/edinburgh-on-film/edinburgh-crime-drama-film-locations/rebus/

It mentions The Oak- well worth a pint in there, it's a folk pub and there are often jams on. (I accidentally saw Kris Drever play a set in there which was pretty awesome- he was having a pint, got recognised and handed a guitar).

The Meadows are pretty this time of year- the blossom is coming out on the trees.

There are LOADS of great restaurants in town, but if you want a couple of suggestions:
Scran & Scallie: Tom Kitchins gastropub. (You'll probably want to book if you go in the evening- it gets BUSY! I like to go for lunch then for a wander round Stockbridge and the Botanics.)
    https://scranandscallie.com/

Calistoga: Excellent grills & wine place right in the city centre. They own a wine shop in the south side so the wine is awesome and not marked up too much. It's tucked away off Rose St, so doesn't get as busy as it should.

Spice Pavillion: Best curry in Edinburgh? (It's quite close to Bramble bar too if you like cocktails... http://bramblebar.co.uk/)

You've missed our summer though. It was this weekend.

Fleshmarket Close is pretty easy to find, it goes between Cockburn Street and the Royal Mile.
