    "Hello, Mr Gilmour's office"

"Hi, is it possible to speak to David Gilmour please?  I have an overdrive pedal I'm looking to shift and wondered if he might be interested?"

"I think that it's unlikely he'd be interested.  I don't know if you are aware but Mr Gilmour is considered a guitar tone legend.... he has spent years perfecting his sound and people spend thousands trying to emulate it.  He is a multi-millionaire who can have his choice of any vintage or rare equipment available. What makes you thing he'd be interested in buying something from a random phone caller?"

"It's got a valve in it!"

"Apologies for my curtness, he'll take it."

    Very droll.

The Police thought he was the leader of the Chinese London Gang operations until somone explained what Triode meant.

  • Two questions: how does he get his foot up there ( to stomp)? What's in that mug?

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

What's in the mug? Tea, you heathen... what else could possibly be in an Englishman's mug?

Most interesting for me is the Binson Echorette sat there - you can buy hundreds of emulations of it, but nothing sounds like the real thing... when it works.

I'm also intregued by the Gibson 330 with a bigsby sat there... not seen that before, nor the Bigsby'd Tele Custom.

Just great to hear he's also working on a solo album (ref: Chris Evans Breakfast show interview).

  • No Suhr or Anderson?

    Hardly top drawer guitars.

Also, no strymon? Not a left brain artist or innovator.

And blackstar is for bedroom metal-heads who don't have any taste or tone beyond dark chugger.

Whoever this guy is, he should join tgp and learn a thing or two.

The '335' has P90s and the neck joint appears to be further forwards - I think its a 330.

I thought the white Tele from the 2006 tour was given to his son as a Chrimbo pressie.... no sign of the 'Workmate' sadly.

Blimey.... Was going to tell you to congratulate your mate on this effort, but I doubt he goes outdoors much, so you might not see him anytime soon.

  • I love that he does not care for brand, or versatility.

He just finds sounds he likes and uses them. Practicality rules the roost.

On a side note, that tele with Bigsby is super beautiful.
