Formula is 1 b3 5 7, so in C# we have the notes C# E G# B#, which is x4211x. The open string available to help us form our open-position C#mmaj7 chord is the 1st string E, so we can build a modified C-shape chord to utilise it - 

C#mmaj7: x42110

That's a bit of a finger-twister, but the lower E note on the D string can easily be sacrificed, which leaves the much more playable and slightly more balanced-sounding

C#mmaj7: x4x110

There must be lots more C#mmaj7 chords available using the open E string by moving the CAGED shapes up the neck. Can you think of any and save me the bother? A wisdom or a wow for each useable one!

9 11 9 9 13 0 which has both sevenths in it, and 9 11 11 9 13 0 which doesn't. In each case I'd normally play it without the top string
