Been wondering about this on and off. What would you choose as a "birth year guitar" if you were (un)fortunate enough to have come in to the world in the same year as the Walkman, The Dukes of Hazzard and the Happy Meal?
I'm aware that the late 70s weren't a great time for the big US manufacturers, and I don't have the sort of "vintage guitar" money those instruments seem to sell for regardless. My guess is the best prospects for a great guitar of that vintage would be with the Japanese makers?
Whaddya reckon? What would be a keeper guitar of that vintage for a rock/blues player of advancing years for not silly money?

It's a 1978. That's cool and that but IMO buying a 'Year my mummy and daddy got their rocks off' guitar is a bit weird.

Aren't MIJ Fender knock-offs just as well regarded as the Gibson-a-likes?
