So.... How much is a '69 Fender Stratocaster 'B&B' D Profile neck worth?

I always thought the B&B Strat necks were earlier.

    Say around '65-'67 ish.

But the logo is late '60s / early '70s.

Never seen one with blocks either.

    Special order?

So I'm guessing that the outgoing white paintjob was already a refin ?
I only ask because If not I did wonder if this was one of those 'parts bin' moments that Fender used to be quite prone to back in the 60's-70's.
You know, they found themselves short of Jazzmaster necks but by a quirk of fate happened to have a pile of B&B Strat necks sitting around...

It was a refin. Thick paint and had a coat of blue over a sunburst.

Not sure, but a lot more than an equivalent Jazzmaster neck is.

So unless you're really attached to that one it's probably best to sell it and buy a Jazzmaster one.

    Wow, what a find!
What is the date on the heel of the neck?

Is it because its not a Strat neck, but a Jazzmaster that was fitted when re-finished with a Strat logo perhaps ?

    Its definitely a Strat neck.

Original lacquer is unbroken and so a nice surprise.

Looks like I won't be re-finishing the headstock then.

Think neck date is actually 13th Nov 70. It is really feint though, so open to interpretation!

Actually, 13 isn't the day, although that's a common trap to fall into. It's the code for which type of neck it is. And 13 would be a Strat between 65 and 67. After 67, 22 was the code for Strat.

Edit: some sites say that change in code happened in '69, making a 13 Nov 70 stamp more plausible, though still theoretically anachronistic.

Duchossoir's book says it was 13 until mid '68, but the chances are the number is correct because Strats with blocks and binding are very rare, probably custom ordered, so they may have kept the 13 code for them. Either way it probably doesn't matter too much since "70" no longer has the negative value attached compared to anything from the 60s that it did until only a few years ago.
