That has to be the episode of the series so far. Possibly the best of every series.

    Sure was a good un.

    The best????    I dont know.

The battle of Backwater Bay was pretty good.    Ed Stark losing his head was a shocker, as was the Red Wedding,
Then of course there was the sheer joy of watching Joffrey die.

True, true. It was an overreaction because this series has been slow so far.

I'm becoming quite enamoured with Sophie Turner/Sansa Stark.

Great episode, definitely the best of this season, we got an extra few minutes too which was great, kept expecting it to end and we had a bit more. Amazing TV.

I have never seen it. As a kid I was mad on Fantasy, but it just doesn't appeal any more. I might try it at some point, but I have never seen any series through that was more than about 8 episodes!

I avoided watching it for ages as I thought it would be awful, and I'm not really into the fantasy/dragons stuff.

I was engrossed after one episode.

GOT is less about fantasy, more about politics, power, sex, violence.
The dragons/white walkers are really just a small element,

Less tits in it since Joffrey died.....

    I haven't seen season 5 yet though.

I tried reading the books from scratch a while ago but could get into it as I was just reading what I had already watched, hence I knew the story.

Does anyone know where I need to to start from in the books to carry on from the end of series 4?

I think you'll still miss out on a lot of things. I couldn't start reading a series from the middle, the thought makes me very anxious.

Yup - enough to keep it interesting if you've already read them (given the general decline in boob levels).

And I must agree with Holn (though I'm a fair bit older) - over the last couple of series, I must admit to looking up the actress playing Sansa to work out if she's old enough to perv over.

You can't really. The first series of GOT was very close to the first book but still altered or completely left out a few important elements. From series 2 onwards, plotlines have been simplified or completely changed and several characters amalgamated. As a result, stuff that happens in books 3, 4 and 5 all happens in series 4, and from what I've heard, series 5 is pretty much making it all up as it goes along with little reference to the plot of the books.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I'm not clear whether the giant made it or not, and if so, how he got into a boat. Lots of good moments, the finish of the Jon Snow fight was cool, had to re-watch it for the look of surprise on the other guy's face.

The bit with the giant stamping on the zombies was also very good.  Yep this series has drifted off from the books. It will be interesting to see if Mr Martin catches up with the TV series or goes in a different direction with the books.
