In Allan's tune 'The Things You See', the intro uses some Andy Summers 'Every Breath You Take'-style add9 chords [edit: the Every Breath You Take chord now has its own discussion at http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/44193/chord-of-the-week-20-6-15-the-every-breath-you-take-chord] moving in parallel, eg Csus2 8 10 12 9 x x, but those two x's to Allan represent a wasted opportunity! So he adds the octave on the top string and the maj7 on the 2nd string, giving a lovely wide-spaced mellifluous maj9 chord
