Frustrating that all we can talk about is all the unreasonable things that anyone who was playing against us did, and why we are right and the ref, the TMO and citing officers are clearly wrong when they are professionals and we are tv watching amateurs. Let's talk about the games and not the crap which is hyped up by TV,

Didn't see the IvI game. England were fab, then Wales were fab, then Scotland were fab. Good weekend's rugby watching

  • I dunno, but some Welsh people think Taff is a derogatory term same as paddy and jock, I don't myself I hasten to add. But like anything it's all about context that the term is used in. Marler was definitely having a nasty 5 mins, not just with Lee but Rob Evans as well.

Here's a link of Marler calling Lee "gypsy boy" he's a traveller. Hope he gets a ban for this, there would be uproar if he called Faletau "nigger boy" no need for that.
Seemingly, the DCLG ruled in 2009, that if you owned or rented permanent property you were no longer a gypsy.

And, by the same token, I hope all players who calls us Poms or any version thereof are banned too.

There's no need for that type of thing on an international rugby field. He's using his heritage in a derogatory manner to wind him up....I'm all for wind ups and pushing people but not like that.
A serious question- putting Marler aside, how is it worse than Aussies calling us (incl you lot) Pommie cunts etc?

The consider themselves a different race apart from others. Calling someone a gyppo or gypsy boy in this way is a derogatory insult based on that distinction and therefore a racial slur. I don't suppose Pom is much different in a theoretical way, but we all know the connotations of calling someone a gyppo. They're looked down on.

Apart from @lloyd giving it a brief mention, clearly the Scotland v France game wasn't on anyone else's radar... despite, unfortunately, giving the championship to England. I say unfortunate because I suspect next weekend would have benefitted from the championship being decided against France - where England would almost certainly still have won it.

Howver, trying not to involve any nationalistic bias (difficult as that is), I thought today's game was a really enjoyable game. Perhaps due to the falibility of both sides, who don't really seem equipped with the defensive skills to grind out an attritional game, I thought it was a lot more fun to watch than yesterday's England vs Wales game, albeit both of these being superior teams. Scotland have a good front row and some decent backs... long time since anyone's been able to say that.

The refs interpretation of the breakdown and scrum really killed this game as an enjoyable spectacle for me. France got screwed by another homer ref IMO the shirt pull try being one of the decisions that were baffling. Great win for Scotland though and deserved it. England will destroy this French team, they're terrible, Italy should have beat them and they're awful. The better games this year have been the u20's-attacking flair (sometimes poor defences help) and some great contests. Scotland are on the up, I hope they kick on. They'll need to beat one of the triple crown nations before they are taken too seriously by me first though. France have great players, they just need a coach that puts it all together, I hope they see what England have done this year and fancy some of that, we need France to be strong they've been shit for years now.

^ seconded. Very enjoyable game to watch (though I thought they all were. Perhaps Ire v Ita least cos there's no fun in a one sided contest). I like how Scotland play and I think that they could have their biggest Lions contingent in years next year. Hogg in particular is a delight to watch, and laidlaw has grown so much as a player in the last couple of years. Good to see their evident delight in the win too. Thoroughly deserved.

Who would you take from Scotland for the lions? I'd take Hogg. I'm not sure any of the others are better than other Nations have to offer....might be a good time to take a list of who'd be in our 23's so far.

I did enjoy the England/Wales game too, but until the last twenty minutes, it felt very tightly on script and didn't really spark into life until the Welsh threw the shackles off for the last fifteen minutes or so. I thought England were steadily impressive throughout the game.

Yes, I think the 6Ns have been good for the past decade. All teams have had something to offer from a viewer's pov

I think a few would make the tour, if not the weekend side. At least one Gray, Hogg, Seymour, Barclay maybe. Laidlaw and Finn Russell might struggle given the opposition.

A few will tour but only Hogg is a test lion for me. Even then he's up against Brown and 1/2p (if fit). None of those other names I put above what the other nations have in those positions.

  • I would take both Gray brothers, and have Itoje as a 6 impact player. He is gonna be an awesome player, very good now though. I would also take Laidlaw and Hogg.

  • I would not put Halfpenny in as a 15 but as a wing. I prefer Liam Williams as wing for Wales so much better attacking.

  • Ok so we all know who has won the six nations, whether it's a GS time will tell, but after the six nations is over, pick your players for the Lions tour, but you cannot pick your own country. Let's see who you pick nationalistic crap aside.

You have to be able to pick your own team though! If they played next weekend I'd pick: 1. McGrath 2. Hartley 3. Lee 4. Itoje 5. AWJ 6. CJ Stander 8. Vunipola 7. Warburton 9. Murray 10. Sexton 11. North 12. Roberts 13. Joseph 14. Watson 15. Brown 16. Best 17. Evans 18. Ross 19. Charteris 20. Faletau 21. Youngs 22. Biggar 23. Hogg

@gassage I'm wondering if you'd have asked me the same question if Marler had called Faletau "black boy" or Lee had said that to Itoje?
