Another tribute set at the Cambridge Blues Jam coming up tomorrow - this time with mike_l marking the 45th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death on September 18th. We've done THE Hendrix Chord already, at

so here's his equally characteristic voicing of a major chord with the 3rd in the bass, which occurs in lots of places including Hey Joe and Little Wing, but especially the run-up at the end of each verse of Wind Cries Mary, which goes up chromatically Eb/G, E/G# and then arrives at the root chord

F/A: x 12 10 10 10 x

The trick is to hammer-on with your third finger to the 12th fret on the fifth string, bouncing off a briefly played F/G x 10 10 10 10 x with your index finger barre-ing the middle four strings. Then for further embellishment there are lots more hammer-ons available using position 1 of the (major) pentatonic scale, so hammer-on to fret 12 on strings 4 and 3, and to fret 13 on string 2.

Any suggestions for other Hendrix chords we could do over the next few weeks?
