As I'm in the middle of a series of cool chords in songs by unfashionable bands, I was on the lookout when I saw Will Young in concert last week. The support act was Lemar, backed by just an acoustic guitarist called Angelo Starr (Brother of Edwin Starr, I learn from Google!), and I was really impressed when he played the C-shape voicing of a D chord and and E chord in the riff of the song The Letter. The riff goes B D E D E D and moves really fast between the D and E chords moving the same shape up and down two frets.
D : x54232
You can hear but not see (his fingers are out of shot) Angelo Starr playing the chord at 0:30 in this video
