But this morning....

So, my Dad came home on thurs. All good.

Fell off his disabled loo today and broke his nose and back in hospital.

Never bloody rains but it pours. Arrgggh.

I suspect, and no blame here on her, that my mum fitted the extension bit to the loo seat (it kind of makes it about a foot higher to sit on) as I was not there.

I suspect she didn't locate the retainers properly and he's leaned forward, it's tipped over its centre of gravity and the seat has slipped.

I blame myself as I should have fitted it but I was at bloody work.

but you can't go down the path of blaming yourself - you can only do so much and it's obvious how much you care.

I know. And I also have to earn a living and it's bloody hard when weekends are the busiest work days for you (I'm a rugby journo as you know).

THe RWC meant I have hardly had time to fart (I mean, I've not bought a pedal in 9 weeks!) and I am utterly exhausted after 9 consec weekends of finishing work every Sat and Sun at 2am.

As much as you want to try, sometimes you just need to crash and recharge. But that too makes me feel guilty, despite the sheer fatigue (covering those games was emotionally draining at times, such was the epic nature of the knock out stages- you came home drained of emotion.)

I own my Mum and Dad's house and I still have to pay a small mortgage so I need the income.

Sorry to hear this, I care for my dad full time and watching him struggle through life each day is a hard thing to do especially as he used to be such a strong man. Hope your dad recovers quickly.

Matey, he hasn't really a clue where he is most of the time.

it was a severe stroke. he has to be spoon fed. it's like going out with @drew_fx for a meal.

Your story was credible up to this point. When it hits 10 weeks, will you snap? 

I've had the whole blame game with Mum recently as we put her mother in a home as she was close to incapable to dressing and caring for herself so all good wishes to you and the folks.
