Previous post: Help me spec my guitar build

I´m a Luthier most of my life and as instruments builder i have build almost acoustic instruments... well just one electric copy of the Les Paul .
Well my question is this, i have my own design, well i hope that not exists other like lol...

The hardware and the electronic are my questions, some friend, luthier advised me hipshot machine heads and bridge, i saw and i really like them, but never tested this material... Need more opinions...

I decided for bareknuckle humbucker, bridge only, maybe some day i will apply other but now will be just for the bridge, aftermath, warpig or blackhawk, my ideia is, if the wood is mahogany the aftermath will be a good choice...

Opinions???

woods, mahogany body and neck, top or walnut or rosewood... :P

finish will be as natural as possible, all guitar oil and wax, or can be top and head stock veneer with shellack ...

Can't help you but I suspect you may get better responses in the making and modding sections of the forum, also a more detialed subject may help to, something like, "Help me spec my guitar build"

    I'm a little confused.

    Firstly
What are you planning on building - acoustic, electric, or some sort of hybrid?

    Secondly
I'd always suggest looking at ranges other than BKP.   Those are good, but expensive, and a lot of the cost is paying for their marketing and advertising.
We have some very - VERY - good pickup makers who are members on this forum and who can probably build you pickups that are at least as good as BKP, but for a lot less money.

Always delighted to work with makers ... I already provide pickups for Feline Guitars, Jaden Rose guitars, Dan McPherson guitars and LA Guitars ... and if I don't offer a model suitable off the shelf, I am happy to design something tailored to both the look you want and the sound you need.

  • well some specifications i decided

    body and neck - mahogany
top  -  old olive wood, this is a piece that i bought in Alentejo Portugal some years ago.. i just have for other guitar :(
    fretboard - rosewood
    strings through body
    hipshot bridge
    hipshot tuners

1 bridge humbucker, i decided for JB sh4 seymour duncan, I decided this one because i know this, in future i will test other but for this guitar no...

    volume knob hipshot

design was a freehand, i believe that it can exist some model similar, its almost impossible to be unique but if exist sorry i dont know any.

This design is in test, this one is small, i suppose you can call ergonomic, but i have now new design for a bigger body, can be flat top, like this one, or carver and hollow...

soon i will do other with fanfret to ;)

please see the images and say what you thing ;)

I've used a few Hipshot bridges; they're nicely made but the instructions - and particularly the dimensions and positional guidelines in them - are way out. Sadly on the first guitar I made with their products I believed the instructions and it just will not intonate.

My fault for not checking I suppose, but I checked back and the instructions are definitely wrong. I emailed them and got no response.

  • is my first hipshop bridge i know that the bidges are great but the instructions i don't know.. well its all mathematics

the string that is the scale length is G, and the low E is about 3mm bellow, this is not precise and it depend of the scale length,  but it helps when you fixed the bridge, and then the you have the movement of the saddles for final touches .. wen i do the acoustic guitars that must be extremely precise because the saddle is fixed ;)

if you do like i said i believe you never wrong again

    Cheers mate
