  • I went to Reading '93 on the Sunday, mainly to see the newly-reformed Big Star. That was also the first time I saw The Posies and I've been a massive fan since. When I look at the lineup for that festival, I can't believe how spoilt we were then.

I felt exactly the same way about the death of interesting, alternative UK music. I hated Britpop so much I quit playing guitar for almost a decade, taking up synthesisers instead. I'm just glad I didn't ditch all my guitars. It very nearly happened!
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

YouTube suggested a video for me the other day. It was a three song, 4-track Portastudio demo by an obscure, American shoegaze band from the early 90s.
I was expecting it to be mediocre, but was very pleasantly surprised. Sadly, it was the only thing they recorded. It was very Slowdivey, but I thought it had its own thing going as well.
     They were called Ozean, btw.

I too drifted into techno, hip hop, drum and bass, ambient etc. the last few years I hardly picked up a guitar (ok it's not britpops fault, plenty of life stuff got in the way) It's only since this January has the guitar playing bug hit again big time from nowhere

Another new Ride tune: Home Is A Feeling. Those harmonies are exquisite.
