Closely related to last week's Abmaj9(no3rd) 4x6046 in the key of Eb, last month when I played for a service at church we also played an arrangement of How Great Thou Art which was in Ab. As we had a 22-piece orchestra. I played 3 string arpeggios to cut through the mix a bit more, and I was really pleased with this arpeggio for the key chord of Ab -
Abmaj7(no3rd)/G: xx406x
played in order string3, string4, string2, which gives a cycle of notes G Ab Eb with the open G ringing through beautifully against the adjacent Ab a semitone away on the 4th string.
Next week, the IV chord Db I played in the same sequence. Perhaps you can guess what it was? . . .
