I've been toying with this for some time and have finally taken the plunge and bought most of the parts. I've just ordered a neck from Musikraft which was steep, but hopefully will be worth it. Body being taken care of by @lamf68, so no worries on that front :-) Photos will appear sometime in the future...

Looking forward to seeing photos of this.
Plus, Sod's law says that Squier will bring out a XII just as you finish this. :)

Charcoal Frost with a darker, aged tint. I'm pretty confident I'm going to like it in the flesh and as we've all seen, @lamf68 does great work so I'm looking forward to it. I've taken a bit of a punt on the neck and am hoping that they will go nicely together...

Here are some photos of the body that has been expertly finished by @lamf68. He had a bit of final polishing to do when he took these, not that anyone would notice from the brilliant finish that he's acheived yet again. This an aged Charcoal Frost, so a bit darker than normal.

Like a fool I've been mispelling @lamf68's moniker on here and completely ruining his Johnny Thunders tribute. Hopefully they're all correct now and Rich can take the credit he deserves for such impressive work :-)

Ok, it's been a while, but I've finally got around to assembling this project. It has taken some time and has changed direction somewhat.

I ended up selling the body that @iamf68 so beautifully painted, as it began crazing after only a few months, and it wasn't really the look I was after at such an early stage. I replaced it with a body that I ordered from John Manuel, which is inspired by a body that Jooky offered to me. It goes back to my original idea of doing a Cabronita style body, so I'm very happy about that.

I finished the body in Wudtone Olympic Girl, but to be honest I'm disappointed with it, so it's going to be removed at some stage in the near future. It took a very long time and a lot of patience to get the solid-ish white finish, but even after 2 bottles of the stuff, it's still not totally solid in colour and is pretty patchy. To be fair to Andy at Wudtone, he offered me a 3rd bottle for the cost of postage, but I don't like the very pronounced orange peel effect, and that won't go away with further coats, as you really have to slap the Wudtone on to get a solid finish. It certainly isn't a 'wipe-on and it's done finish'.

While the body was nightmareish, the neck kit from Wudtone was pretty easy and only required a bit of patience. I really like the finish and can recommend the neck kits whole heartedly.

As for the bridge, I was tempted to get the Gotoh 12 string jobby to maintain a more Cabronita like look, but then I decided to keep it Jazzmaster/Jaguar like and fit a hardtail plate with a 12 string T-O-M bridge from ABM (a really beautiful bit of hardware).

The pickup is a Jazzmaster humbucker from Mojo.

Anyway, here are some (not so great) photos. It's not finished yet as I'm waiting for a string tree for the final set-up, but you'll get the idea...
