Chord Of The Week 16/7/16 - Church Chords - A Bbm7(no3rd)add6/G in the key of Ab

bigjonbigjon Frets: 680
Here's the third of the chords I used for an orchestral arrangement of How Great Thou Art which was in Ab. For the Ab chord I played Abmaj7(no3rd)/G: xx406x as an arpeggio picking string 3 first, then string 4, then string 2. For the Db chord I used the same picking pattern and the similar shape Dbadd#11(no root)/G: xx606x. Now for the Bbm chord I used exactly the same shape - what a cheat! :-)

Bbm7(no3rd)add6/G: xx606x

Once again the open G on the 3rd string rings against the Ab on the 4th string a semitone above it in pitch and created a very resonant sustaining sound. There is no root note of Bb in the chord. It could be added on the 6th string at fret 6 but I was letting the bass player take care of it.

The next chord I needed was a Eb chord: can you guess what I played for that?
