Hello Beautiful People of Earth!!!! Time for round 15 of the Fretboard Challenge competition!

The competition:

Every 3 months there will be a competition, it revolves around individuals or groups of forum members composing or covering songs based on a set of rules or guidelines laid out for that particular competition.

Submission Details

All recordings will need to be sent via email to fretboardchallenge AT gmail.com

All songs will then be upload to the Fretboard Challenge SoundCloud page here - https://soundcloud.com/thefretboard

Songs must be submitted in an MP3 format and you need to provide a picture for your track

Voting starts 17th November 2016 - Voting ends 11.30pm 30th November 2016

A new voting system will be in place for this challenge, voters can pick their top 3 favorite entries.

First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point

Entry with the most points wins.

Winner will be announced just before midnight 30th November 2016

Create an amazing piece of soundscape music using only guitar, feel free to make percussive sounds or whatever you can but only use guitar. NO TIME LIMIT!

Sorry to be annoying but I've never really known what a soundscape is, are there any suggestions as to what I need to listen to on Spotify to educate myself?

Hmm, but say I wanted it to sound like what other people do for soundscapes...
Bear in mind for a garage rocker, being a bit experimental means using a trem.

I hope so as I'll be doing that a bit ... I think it does as you're playing guitar. What's the difference between using an amp and a reverb pedal and a synth? None in my book.

Was it Fripp who came up with the term 'soundscaping'? Certainly the first time I heard the term was from Fripp.



If it's of any interest, there is a free frippertronics vst instrument emulating Eno's original twin-Revox setup available here ...

I don't think 'soundscaping' is necessarily about looping technology either. I'd class this as a guitar 'soundscape', guitar as percussion instrument ...

I'd also say that a lot of Syd Barrett's approach to guitar on those early Floyd improvs was 'soundscaping'.

Definitely out of my zone but I'll try and think of something that might vaguely work under the name of a soundscape. I don't really understand ambient type music enough not to sound utterly ridiculous so I imagine I'll try and garage rock it up a bit. The only think I can think of I know that week to copy...I mean take influence from... Is Mike Oldfield early instrumentals, would that work?
