These ones are complete units, but the same place does replacement tubes. You need a different starter (I think it just shorts the contacts). Mine are these:

There are some here that say they're ballast compatible, but there's some rewiring to do.

Thanks @Sporky  looks like it's about the same cost to buy a double unit as two replacement bulbs, so might as well get a new unit.

Four of them in a 7x4 workshop is very, very bright.  Not unpleasantly so, but you certainly don't need more than that! Almost no shadows cast either - I thought I'd need a lot of machine lamps but I don't think I'll need any.

They were recommended by my electrician if that helps.

At 6500 lumens each I'm not surprised it's bright :)
With 4 of them in there I'm surprised you're not attracting Umpa Lumpa's

Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

I think it's the right number. Not overwhelmingly bright but no dingy corners.

The groundswork people have finished the shingle and the fences, and left some big bits of ply for ramps. Sadly I am at the office today.

Last few days have involved a lot of standing, looking at things. Strangely this doesn't result in them being any different. But I have a proper plan for the ducting now,
Plan review and validation is always a worthwhile activity.

I'm concerned by the absence of Mme Sprockette.

She's not been seen on-thread for more than a week now.

I'm thinking "missing Sprockette" posters ...
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    Totes.

How much ducting do you want in it? Lots?

If you resurrect the pedals you could fit little tonez-ducts - just make some shit up as to why.

Lady BMcH and I did a quick recce of the old workshop (aka my dear old mum's garage) on the 23rd. Got a fair bit packed into boxes, but dear old mum decided to bimble around moving buckets hither and thither so we didn't get very far.

The machine movers are coming at 8am on Thursday, and I'm in the office on Wednesday. Thus tomorrow presents the last opportunity to prepare for the move. Mostly I need to get things disconnected and unbolted from the floor. Anything else I can pack is a bonus, and I'll get them to move as much of the timber stock as possible.

Also need to screw some battens to the bits of ply to stiffen 'em up a bit and fix them to the decking and workshop, but that'll have to wait until Wednesday evening. Home stretch now though.

    Machines moved!

I was a bit concerned when they turned up in a Transit van. Somewhat relieved when a significantly larger truck with a tail-lift appeared shortly after. All loaded in about an hour, unloaded in about two and a half hours. I will post photos later, got to nip to the post office now. All went well but I need to change the ducting for the extractor or move the CNC machine a bit - I favour the former. I could also do with another metre or so of 100mm duct if anyone's got that lying around...? No? Didn't think so. ;)

The workshop is a lot smaller now it's full of stuff, but I think it'll be fine.

Photos. I know they are important. I didn't take any during the out or the in, but this is the current state of the place.

    'Round the back:

    To the side:

    The ramps I made:

And Sprocket on her walk a few days ago (I know she's why people read this thread):

And some inside shots - this is the machine wall:

    http://www.monkeyfx.co.uk/pictures/new_workshop/291216 move/machinewall.jpg

Stuff. Lots of stuff. Need to move all of it to build my bench...

    http://www.monkeyfx.co.uk/pictures/new_workshop/291216 move/stuff.jpg

And the end wall - now stuff is in I can see I need to move the extractor's branch so it doesn't get in the way of the extractor. This is not a major undertaking, probably an hour or two.

Looks a bit full in there? Where are you gonna fit the pool table ?

    In the pool, obvs.

The timber will get tidied away and there are two spaces for timber storage so I think it'll be fine. The planer-thicknesser and tablesaw both pull out to the middle when needed.

Today I plumbed in the extractor. You may recall that my planning wasn't perfect and the main duct clashed somewhat with the CNC machine - basically the extractor is smaller and the inlet lower than I'd reckoned on. This is, overall, a good thing, but requires some adjustment.

    http://www.monkeyfx.co.uk/pictures/new_workshop/291216 move/endwall.jpg

That pipe on the right got cut down after some careful measuring, so I could mock up the general arrangement.

    http://monkeyfx.co.uk/pictures/new_workshop/301216 more ducting/cuts.jpg

And after an hour or so - the entire right hand branch had to be loosened and shifted along to enable this - it's done. Flattened both 18v batteries now so the last bit of the last cut was with the hacksaw. Which is even less fun than I'd remembered.

    http://monkeyfx.co.uk/pictures/new_workshop/301216 more ducting/done.jpg

I also got the semi-rigid ducting onto the bandsaw. Ideally I'd add another metre of rigid duct and some fixed bends but this is good enough. And I've moved the spur for the aircon a bit closer to the distribution board and put some paving slabs down in front of the door so less shingle makes it into the workshop.. Bit of tidying too - not a bad day all in all.
