Doing a bit of work on my CS60 today, including replacing part of the switchbank (with original parts) as one of the switches was a bit dodgy. I'm also attempting to clean the inside of the ribbon controller, which is somewhat tricky. It had been exhibiting some intermittent, unstable pitch issues on the lower end (when pressed), but it's improving each time I tinker with it.
Looking inside, it's easy to understand why these cost the same as a small house when they were released back in 1976.
Just check out all those voice cards and the monster wiring loom!
There's more under the keyboard too.
As you can see, it's quite busy in there!
I'll be gutted to part with this, but unfortunately it'll be helping fund our next house.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.

My god it looks like a Tardis in there.
At least it appears to be using chips in those boards, not discrete transistors or something.
Got to admire the designers who made these monsters a reality.
There are quite a few chips in there, but some of them are custom-built jobbies and are worth a fortune on their own. Those big, white and black chips which live under the keyboard go for between £500-800. Each. Crazy!

Although I'm going to be selling mine, I'm not going to strip it. I'd much rather it went on to someone who loves it. If the next owner strips it, I don't want to know about it!

I stripped a desk from 1982 a while back for it's cargo of SIL duel opamps which I knew were popular with certain cork sniffers . Nearly had a huge stack of sixties geranium transistors from an old organ but the owner went ahead with the repair.
Gulp!
