Small 2017 PB (23:15) at the Newport Riverfront parkrun. It honestly felt faster, like sub-23. but I was held up a bit at the start. On the return leg it can get a bit spread out, but I ended up running the last 2k with a guy so ran it hard.

Thanks! It's all relative I guess, I probably won't get near my all-time best this year, but then I was a stone lighter and in more protective shoes.

Couple of short runs last week, then flew to Guernsey and ran their ultramarathon following the coastal and cliff paths around the entire island. 36 miles but blimey the number of steps up and down for first 16 miles. Very tough on the legs. Cracking day out and helped a good friend out pacing/supporting him on his longest run yet. Loved it.

Next big big race in 18 days time. South Downs way 100. Looking forward to that one

7 miles up the canal today
    Always makes me titter
I'm not sure if it's a Newport or South Walian idiom, but "up the" and "down the" are well used in this house. Like, if we want a posh coffee we go "up the Celtic".

It reminds me of Harry Enfield's Stavros character, who was always taking his wife to football "up de arse', inni'" :)
'up the Celtic' sounds like a posh 'Centre Parcs'.

It can be, it has a "ropes in the treetops" course type thing. It's also, apparently, "the UK's Best Hotel", the Celtic Manor. It always reminds me of The Shining whenever I drive home from work though.

I can fairly safely state that that ISN'T what "Centre Parcs" is a reference to.
Google "mumsnet centre parcs" if you want further explanation.

    Back on the running theme
