One of the best J45s I have ever picked up and played. Fitted with K&K pickup by Charlie Chandler. Complete with case and I have the truss rod cover too -Just took it off to adjust from 13s to 12s. Some wear and marks - All purely cosmetic and in line with a guitar loved and used over 11/12 years.

£1350 collected from Surrey (Between Dorking and Guildford).

Just to clarify - These are no longer available or made but are much closer to the current vintage model than the standard.

The precursor to the current True Vintage line, the Historic Collection endeavored to faithfully reissue an instrument that has the look, feel, and tonal properties of a vintage J-45. As Gibson's most popular dreadnought acoustic guitar since its introduction in 1942, the soft shoulder J-45 design delivers great warmth, excellent projection, and a clear, dynamic response. Featuring a AA Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. Setup  with 12-53 phosphor bronze strings and low, comfortable action.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile that borders on the slender side of things while still feeling substantial, with rolled fretboard edges and slight shoulders. The generous slab rosewood fretboard boasts vintage-style fretwire which is in fantastic shape, showing only light wear beneath the B and E strings on frets 1-5, and virtually no wear further up the neck. The frets retain their full, original height and the crowns are well rounded, playing easily up the neck with no buzzing. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock boasts a silkscreened gold "Gibson" logo along with a set of stock Kluson-style nickel tuners with white buttons. The "Historic Collection" logo is clean and intact as well.

The soft shoulder X braced dreadnought body is in fantastic shape with no cracks or repairs and a stately vintage sunburst nitro lacquer finish. The rosewood bridge sits securely on the top with no lifting edges and the top is nice and flat with braces that are in great shape. Visible through the soundhole, the orange oval Gibson label notes the Historic Collection provenance of the instrument, with a serial number that dates the guitar to 2005.

A hardshell case is included (not pictured).

  • Hi.   Lovely looking guitar.  Might you consider a Koch 50w Multitone combo (in perfect condition) in part exchange?
