Chord Of The Week 21/1/17 Church Chords - a C#(m)7add11 in the key of C#minor

bigjonbigjon Frets: 680
I played electric guitar in church again last Sunday and there were loads of juicy chords I'd like to share, particularly in the song 'We Belong To The Day' which is in C#minor. I said to the director of music that I'd use the audio of the songs for just me and close family, so I'll do an extract this week which is just the four bars of C#m at the end, not identifiable as any particular song, and I might do my own video for next week to demo some of the other chords.

For the final chord of C#m I held down the shape
x4440x
and tapped with the pad of my right-hand middle finger on the frets
x [11] [11] [11] [12] x
one string at a time in arpeggio sequence. The result is this monster chord

C#(m)7add11: x4440x (tap semi-harmonics at x [11] [11] [11] [12] x)

The overdrive brought out the semi-harmonics and added a touch of feedback on a high C# and G#. Because I used the pad not the fingertip some of the fundamental note on each of the stopped strings came through as well as the harmonic, so I was able to build up this chord low-to-high -

C# x4xxxx
F# xx4xxx
B xxx4xx
G# x [11] x x x x (2nd harmonic one octave and a fifth above x4xxxx)
B x x x x [12] x (1st harmonic one octave above xxxx0x)
C# x x [11] x x x (2nd harmonic one octave and a fifth above xx4xxx)
F# x x x [11] x x (2nd harmonic one octave and a fifth above xxx4xx)
C# x x x x x {9} (feedback pitch)
G# x x x x x {16} (feedback pitch)

The notes C# F# G# B in isolation are C#7sus4, ambiguous between major and minor, but as the context of the song was clearly minor I've notated the chord as C#(m)7add11: x4440x (tap semi-harmonics at x [11] [11] [11] [12] x).

Here's the audio of me playing the chord.
