Hi All

Just in case anyone is interested but doesn't delve into the Making and Modding section very often, I've just completed the build of a Chris Squire Mouradian style 4 stringer.  There is a build summary thread here.

To my shame, I wasn't aware of the original until a Basschat member approached me to build him a tribute, in cream.  It's VERY 1980's!

The chamber at the back is to house a Smoothhound wireless Tx - the owner wanted it invisible from the front but fully accessible from the back.  Normal cable can be used also:

Spec is:

34" scale
Mahogany body, chambered
Maple / Rosewood / Maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
MoP swift inlays (my logo)
Magnetic catches on control chamber and truss rod cover
Schaller lightweight tuners
DiMarzio Model One neck; Warmouth MM overwound bridge
Passive with 3 way switch, 2 vols, 2 tones with series / parallel / split for each pickup

Thanks for looking!

Andy

Nice looking bass, particularly from the back.
I'm sure the late Mr. Squire would have been impressed.

Beautiful work, the white alongside the maple looks better than I'd expect.

The shape is a bit too 'out there' for my tastes, but it really looks like an amazing quality bass. Superb!

I know what you mean.  It's very...er...eighties!  I've got used to it and think the colour (owner's choice) is much better for it than Chris Squire's original but it's definitely a marmite moment for most people.

The main thing, though, is that the owner has now had a proper play in full band context and is exceptionally pleased with it ;)

I think it's great - good to see something that isn't just a jazz bass with an extra knob on it.
