She's always wanted a nice wee house and I've always been a bloody commitment phobe but I plan to make big gestures and make the rest of our time the best it can be. Even thought about quitting work for a year to travel (she always wanted to). Whatever she wants I'll do it.

Jesus. Can't even imagine how you guys are feeling. I imagine no one who hasn't been in that situation can, and there is probably nothing that can be said you take away the pain, frustration and shock. 

I don't know, the only think I can say is that we are all travelling on the same path to reach our expiry date. We will all get there, but just some of us sooner, so we need to try and make the most of things why we are here.  Not sure if that is any consolation at all though.

Tom - do this. I speak with bitter regret for not doing the things that mattered and should have been done. Literally everything else in life can wait.

I know and feel what you are going through, my Wife has gone stage 4 with Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma metastasising to her lungs, Hoping that your specialist team are supportive and effective, research and well directed questions are always your best approach. Make sure that you don't neglect yourself, its not easy at all to be " the other one" and shoulder all the stress and try to do everything .
