  • I very much like Melda's flanger and phaser. Both are whooshy and trippy.

    Also loving the Teufelsberg

OBXD is a great Oberheim emulator

Lokomotiv is good for a basic synth sounds

Tunefish does some decent FM sounds, and is much easier than most to program

  • I downloaded the Teufelsberg, because, if nothing else, the vibe sits nicely with the kind of electronic stuff I tinker with. Sadly, It doesn't work with Logic 9/Snow Leopard. Bugger.

Reaper 64 will be able to use any 64 bit VST, and indeed any 32 bit VST as well.  Even in the same project.
All you have to do is tell Reaper where to look for the VST.
And it's usually a good idea to avoid installing multiple versions of the VST, eg. the 32 bit, the 64 bit, and the VST3 version all installed together will just confuse the hell out of it.  Just pick the version you're going to use and don't bother installing the others.

And it is worth paying for the full version. Usually 50% off in the sales.

Tonecarver for experimental stuff. TCStretch is fabulous.

SQ8L - the best Ensoniq ESQ-1 synth out there.

    ArcDev and Interruptor delays

    Azurite for chorus.

@Heartfeltdawn - I'll check those out - not come across them before.
Melda's plugs do have a fairly complex GUI but there's so much you can do with them. The vibrato is my favourite using the step sequencer to throw in some unusual shapes.

Totally forgot to mention Blip2000. Use it like the Tenori-On for tons of fun.

    And! Longsound.

I use the Microverb plugin a lot. The GuitarFX plug is also rather useful. Sadly this isn't available now.

Whoa, longsound did a DBX160? I use the waves one all the time. Any experience?

Melda do a loudness meter that does LUFS, which is nice.

That hyper pumped saturating thing is my second-most disliked effect/ technique ever!  (Robot Auto Tune for the win.)
Instant "next track" response from me when listening to new music on Spotify or YouTube.

TAL chorus is my favourite free chorus.  Pretty much my most used VST chorus full stop.
It depends on the track IMO. I've used it on Addictive Drums to give them a very hard edge, where they are on the brink of breaking up, sort of thing. It is easy to over do it though, in the pursuit of impact/volume. I agree though, too much pumping can make for uncomfortable listening.

As an overall "glue" though, its a very good limiter. Very easy to use too.

A1 Stereo control is great on the master bus with the safe bass control engaged and set to around 65hz:

    TDR Kotelnikov is also tasty:

    As is their Slick EQ:

I use Loudmax 64 over all the other limiters I have:
