Just heard Larry coryell has passed away.

    Shit! Just reading this now. He was someone I only "got" quite late on. My first experience of him was seeing a film of The Guitar Trio, which didn't really do it for me. However, I later got hold of some of his stuff with Philipe Catherine and loved it. Later realised how important Spaces was too.

    However, my favourite thing of his not really "fusion" as such, being a compilation of his 1980s straight-up bop albums called Major Jazz, Minor Blues. I've played that a lot over the last few years.

    A sad loss but I guess he did well to get to get to 74, given the serious addiction problems in his earlier life.

    I used to listen to his stuff a lot as a teenager

    I liked that stuff with Philip Catherine the best
