It's all happening this week at Chez Bridgehouse - this turned up today from the wonderful Graham at @GSPBASSES.

I'm currently unsure how to finish it. I'd like to do a satin clear on the neck, but for the body do I

- Go traditional blond (probably satin) with or without a mild relic
- Stain and tru oil
- Just tru oil for a natural finish
- Go totally left field and decoupage

Thoughts?

I'm hankering after a dark rosewood coloured strat body and matching headstock at the moment so my opinion is heavily biased... :)

But I love stained and oiled bodies...

Ooohhhh, that's a nasty gouge, you wanna get some filler in that!

     =)
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

If you want to do it blond, I'll send the lacquer (foc) with your lad on Sunday?

He's going the wrong way! Lives in Wales these days. However, I will be heading over your way Monday so I might pick up then if that's the chosen colour..

    Choices, choices ;)

Couldn't resist.. Seriously though, that's lovely! I'd probably like to see the grain through the finish, to some degree, and I've got a bit of a thing for fenders pale blue shades....

Another vote for Decoupage, I'd love to see what you do with it!

Well, decoupage is winning. Time to have a chat to the missus - she's a wizz with it...

Got to find the right picture/pattern tho...

Being a bit of a boring old farts, it should be done in the classic colours of a 52 P-Bass, either two tone sunburst or an oil finish with just a hint of yellow in the oil. Pine coloured Danish oil is about the right colour for a 52 P-Bass.

If you haven't already got the electrics for it, I would suggest a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder, don't have a tone control, but an EMG bass expander. With this combination, with the bass expander at zero, it will sound just like a 52 P-Bass on steroids, back volume of slightly and you get the classic sound of a 52 P-Bass. Then when you turn the bass expander up , you get some really great modern sound, turn it full on if you want to do some slap bass or soloing.

Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

    Now. You. Are. Talking...

Satin finish - wacky colour body.

    Decoupage Pickguard.

    You're a genius.

    Thanks.

That one's available from Scratch It, but a decoupage one would be pretty cool too

    Ok. We're off.

Body is going to be Surf Green (satin finish)

I'm going to do multiple scratchplates - some plain, some decoupaged.

Neck is being sprayed in Clear Satin:

Now, matching headstock, yes or no?
