One thing I do notice when using it for bass - it likes a HOT signal to get the thump going. So run the Helix at as high a volume as you can cope with, and then lower the volume on the DXR itself. Makes a big difference

Lazy? Moi?

I don't see why they can't use a digital and unmarked vol control so the control can be duplicated on the front as well. Could easily be behind a little flap to stop pub fan adjusting it. Or have a switch on the back to disable the front one when that might be a problem.

I'll have to have a look.

Do my eyes deceive me or is this another crazy pricing structure?

my favourite combination is the kemper and the atomic CLR because I wanted the FRFR to be as characterless as possible to make the Kemper shine, in this context that CLR is the perfect unit and truly seems to be an FRFR with balls.
With regards to the others here are my thoughts:
- Friedman was great, quite bass heavy and actually very heavy but..... a nicely made unit. I don't feel it has the full range credentials of the CLR though.
-Yamaha monitors- lack bass owing to their size, otherwise really great
-Fryette- fantastic sounding unit.... but too warm and characterful for me to use as a modelling poweramp.
-matrix VB800 +2x12 cab- Great sound for the kemper when using the poweramp only. The preamp is fantastic too so could be a fantastic backup if your kemper/modeller went man down.
Just a quick question, are they normally that low?
I paid about £525 for mine I think

Not decided yet but keep seeing the Alto TS212. Surely they can't be that good for that price?!

I use it with a range of preamps and helix and use it as an on stage monitor with DI out to FOH.
Obvs I use it for bass. It has on board dsp’s which are actually useful and it’s range (high and low) was better than the dxr10
