I've been trying to work out what to say most of the afternoon. And I failed.
Dogs give us humans a lot through their lives. Our obligation to them is to help them when it comes to the end. Seems to me that the more they've given us, the harder that final obligation is.

So sorry man.
Had to let one of my fur babies go last year, hardest thing I've ever had to do. Knowing you did right by her at the end and gave her the best life ever up 'til then will eventually be of some small comfort, but there will always be a Winnie sized hole there in your soul.
Take some time to heal and then go and give another furball the best life they can have. As hard as it's always been to lose them, I always go back for more. Shelter all the way for me.
