anyone used chalk paint on guitar body?

as above ..
have been upcycling some old furniture have been using Annie sloan chalk paint (other brands available).
it covers over bare wood or already varnished/ paint, straight on,with no prep....
there is lovely daphne blue or a dusty pink :-)
once it is painted and dry, you put a clear wax on top to seal it.
had some great results on furniture so dont see why it won't work on a guitar.... ?
any thoughts or experience using this?
thanks in advance
cheers Mark.

I was thinking of painting an old Westone Thunder 1A with blackboard paint and then chalking designs on it, so let me know how you get on ;)

Yeah, that was me, but it's milk paint, not chalk paint.  Not sure if they're one and the same thing, but they both use lime, as I recall.

I really like the stuff, but don't be expecting things to look completely flat, unblemished and pro.  It's definitely a bit rustic, but if you take your time with it, you can get a nice, unique-looking finish.  You will see some grain, and potentially brush/sponge strokes depending on how you've applied it...but, it seems pretty tough, I'm sure it'll relic up a treat with use, and it's dead easy to apply...if it's going onto raw unfinished wood, no primer, whack a few coats on, Danish oil over the top, done.

  • link now works thanks .:-)
and thanks to Darnweight ,yes I believe milk paint and chalk paint are the same! milk paint being American .....
    could be wrong ?
have painted various wooden furniture in chalk paint ,with very good results .....:-)
do you know of anyone painting chalk/milk paint on top of already painted guitar body ?
thinking aloud it might be better on bare wood body....
would be cheaper and easier to just buy a bare wood body.
    cheers Mark .
