When I played a ska version based on the Selecter version ( in turn based on the Skatelites) to a couple of bemused audiences I played a slightly easier to grab ( although technically incorrect ) version.
From low E up: root at 0xxxxx, B at 2xxxx, octave 2xxx, G at 0xx, B at 0x and F# at 2.
That's missing the major 7th D# but you can play that on the first fret of the D string instead of the octave if you like. Either way strum from the high E down. I'd probably add the open high E to @bigjon 's version ( although I don't know if it belongs or not).
