Probably the most influential guitarist of the 20th Century, took all that had come before and set the bar so high that no-one came close.

Saw him live a few times and had the honour of sharing a chat over a beer once, proper lovely bloke and humble beyond words - "I just mess about a bit".

I met him at the Winter NAMM in 1990 - I can confirm he was a lovely, down to earth bloke. Very sad news. RIP

I hadn't heard anything about this until I saw the thread title.  What happened?  I can't find anything about it, presumably it was on social media?

Whatever the story, sad news.  His music was way beyond me but I always enjoyed the interviews I read and heard.  RIP.

So sad, another great who has left us too soon at only three score years & ten.  Not only  a talented musician, Allan was well known as a brewer of beer and for inventing the 'fizzbuster' beer pump.  So, let's all have a beer and raise a glass to Allan tonight - God bless you sir.
