Off Topic & Speakers Corner

What's Hot
Following lots of discussion on this, we've decided to tweak how we use these two sections, and make their intended use a little clearer (hopefully).

Threads on the off topic subjects that are emotive and generally lead to strongly expressed views (such as Brexit and politics in general, the shape of the Earth, etc), threads whose subject matter is generally NSFW, and threads that are akin to the Daily Mail shock-horror headlines, should be posted in Speakers Corner.

Speakers Corner threads are excluded from the Recent Discussions view, and the whole section is Members-Only, so its out of sight for the general browser and Google's indexing.

Threads on Bigsbys can stay in Gear though - that's an on-topic subject for a guitar forum.
;)

Most already are so this is no big change, but we'll be moderating OT more actively in future, and threads will be moved to SC when that's the more appropriate section for them.

We'll probably change the title of Speakers Corner at some point (ie when we can come up with a better alternative!) to more accurately describe its purpose (at which point I'll need to update all of the rules that refer to Speakers Corner too).

You don't think bigsbies and flat earth should be in the same section?

I really shouldn't have brought up the Bigsby topic again.

I have heard it said that it depends if you’re using a Towner or a Vibramate.

    Nope.

    fretboard, a home for guitarists.

And we're not preventing any "diverse or inclusive" discussions.  Just putting them in a more appropriate part of the home.

hey @TTony, it wasn't a criticsm, i was sympathising with your tone of despair. i can imagine making allowances for the flat earthers must feel a bit like charity work at times. but a noble gesture.

Where should people mistakenly post their actual questions about speakers now then?
