Really into this setup. Looks like it would be a lot of fun to play through.
    Thank you kindly

Just been reacquainting myself with the Mercury7 on guitar… good Lord it’s great. CE-2w ain’t half bad either - really enjoying the CE1 setting.

I tried a Mercury 7 today, and it’s pretty much 98% certain to be my new reverb pedal, it’s spec-f***ing-tacular. My Princeton 65RI covers spring, so really just need a plate and huge hall. Still want to give an RV6 a try, but by christ on a shaky bike Meris knocked it out of the park with this one.

The Boss board is finally complete!.
Love it! I can’t get enough of the new Boss stuff. Still got this which is massive overkill but I love the sounds and the ease of use -

How do the DD200 effects compare to the HX effects?

The Boss FX are better than the Helix I used to have.

The only thing I dislike about the new format Boss fx is the slanted footswitches, which I find really annoying for some reason. I have a DD200 and RC500 and the switches just don’t feel very positive. The original style are much better - easier to actually stomp on than the new ones IMO.

  • Oh man, I love the new Boss switches on those units. Way better than the chod you got on the older GT3/GT5 style units.

    Bye!

Yes, I can see that compared to the weird piano like ones on some older multifx these might be better - to be clear I meant the standard Boss hinged foot switch as on the single pedals and the older dual pedals.

Edit: I think I’d also be happier with these new switches if they weren’t angled…

Here's my latest incarnation.  It enjoyed its outing with the band last night (Tele > Bad Cat Cub EF86 channel, set pretty clean) and put a great big  on my face.

    Recent arrivals and returns include:

    Nordland ODR-C

I absolutely love this. I've been through a lot of pedals looking for the low gain sound in my head, and from the moment I plugged this in, I knew that it hit the spot.  The combination of lower mid thickness, chime and articulation at the top end, and touch-sensitive response is just magic.

    T-Rex Mudhoney

This had been off the board for a while. Basically, I had been struggling to find an amp EQ setting which worked both with this fat beast, and also with the various low-gainers I was trying. Many of the latter tended to be pretty bright (at least the way I was setting them up), and the contrast always seemed too stark.

Next to the ODR-C however, this works beautifully for those raunchier rock moments.  And stacking the ODR-C into the Mudhoney is just ridiculous. Jonny Greenwood eat your heart out (yes, I know he actually used a Shredmaster - but to my ears this combo can get pretty close.)

    Mr Black Bloodmoon

I've never really found a reverb I got on with. I tried a few with loads of options, thinking that with the ability to switch between spring / hall / plate / modulated modes etc I would be bound to find the right sounds, but I just got lost and frustrated. With this pedal the simple three-knob setup offers a really useful range of tones, from traditional to downright spooky. Somehow, at the same time it manages to make it hard to dial in a bad sound.

Really nice board that. A few of my faves and several I'd like to try. Got any links to your band online?

  • New setup.

Can either be all front end of the amp, or the larger board can sit in the Effects loop.

I notice you've got the MIDIbox and only one pedal that needs it.

Does the Mercury 7 really not work with MIDI direct from the controller without it?

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I think there are now cable-specific ways and means, yes HOWEVER... It affords me a MIDI thru this way which was required, and also leaves room for expansion. They're a useful thing to have.

Cheers!  We have a Facebook page, but it only has one crappy video.  Should really do better on the whole social media thing ...

Current Metro 16 board. Very happy with it running into a Marshall SV20 combo with attenuator. Moved the fuzz in front of the vibe for once but will have to get another Pickdropper mini treble booster to go after the vibe to tame the fizz.

    Expresso FX Germanium Fuzz
    Jam Retrovibe Mk2
    Pigtronix Octava Mini
    Keeley Red Dirt Mini
    Boss DD-8
    Boss RV-6

Its not massive but its the latest incarnation of my beginners board, tuner lives off to the side (have a petersen strob clip as well) footswitch is for the H+K tubemeister. The equipment is far better than I am (makes a better tone without me touching it to be honest) but I enjoy making noises. Only thing I'm struggling to find is a distortion that I like, tried a RC Fang, Pugilist, Joyo Uzi, had a GT1 so tried a few in there. Just can't seem to find something I like. For now I'm going to concentrate on using the Lead channel for more metal stuff and see how that goes.
As I'm improving in my playing I'm finding more useable tones so perhaps in a couple on months I'll find what I'm after.
I'm liking the all Boss boards, and that Boss OD200 looks like a good pedal but a bit spendy for my budget.

    Current state of things:

In the process of putting together an optional expansion board to plug into the send/return of the above:

Just need to wire up the audio of that one when I can be bothered.

Then there’s this one that sits by my “working from home” desk:

  • I never wanted to post in this thread until the board was complete...that meant I never posted in this thread but I've owned some cool stuff so that seems a shame.

After a year out, I'm back in the game and very happy so thought, fuck it, I'm posting in this thread from now on, finished or not!
