How on earth can they justify this postal charge for posting in UK ?

I already have a tube that I bought years ago and I was looking to buy another. The retail outlet is in somerset and the tube is about 5cm long..........take a look at the postage cost.

wonder if its £12 because im in n.ireland ? even so £12 for sending something which could be posted for cost of 1st class stamp and smallest size padded envelope......£1.50 tops............I know a ripoff when I see it.

went to ebay.com site and there it was with economy option free postsge, i added it to cart and it has postal options, guess which one it wouldnt let me select...????economy, and the ole £12 charge was my only choice......what a freakin ripoff

He's probably chosen Free for "Mainland UK" and £12 for everything else. Given that you're probably the first person to want to buy from him in NI, then it's kind of an understandable mistake.

12.99 to post a small item anywhere is outrageous. Just doesn't cost that much.

Not that I've noticed. I just don't buy the "guitar grease" angle. You're effectively just lubricating metal against plastic.

absolute guitars got back to me, acknowledged they were treating uk as mainland only and 12 quid for non mainland. guy changed the listing and i bought the superb graphitall without a postal charge.................Result

There’s really no excuse for charging extra for anywhere in the UK, including “Highland & Islands” as well as NI, especially if it’s a small item - Royal Mail postage is the same to anywhere in the UK. I know this for a fact since I work for a mail-order company...

In my opinion it should be illegal for any courier operating in the UK to charge different rates. It’s expensive enough getting things if you live on the islands, without being charged more for deliveries too - the Post Office has to cross-subsidise the rates, and so should their competitors.
