SOLD: Gibson Historic '61 Reissue ES335 Wildwood Edition £2200
What's Hot
Bit gutted to be selling this one, to be honest, but something special has got my attention in a big way, and a new house purchase forces a couple of sales first!
In excellent VOS condition, rare and sought-after edition of the 335, one of the famous "Wildwood Editions" made by Gibson for Wildwood guitars in America, to their exact specifications. Pickups are Wildwood-spec too, and sound glorious.
This is by far the most lively, resonant 335 I've ever played, and the neck is beautiful and comfortable, with its perfectly rolled edges. Beautiful flame.
Comes with the beautiful original Gibson Lifton case AND a Hiscox Pro II case that I had made for it to keep the Lifton perfect.
Collection from just outside Glasgow preferred, but I will post.
Cost new was $4699 at Wildwood, around £3800 here I think.
£2200
Pics below, and I've put a link to me using it on a BBC show last year, and a link to Greg Koch's demo.
Here's the original description from Wildwood
Description:
Wildwood Guitars is proud to unveil our 2015 Memphis Limited Run Collection. The first piece of that collection, the Wildwood Limited '61 ES-335 Figured, is an instrument resulting from years of research, planning, and more importantly, listening. Our customers absolutely loved the '61 neck profile found on some of the most popular Memphis Artist guitars, finding it incredibly comfortable and inspiring. We also heard the request for a highly figured maple/poplar/maple body in an antique natural finish. Paired with our Wildwood Spec pickups, superb hide-glue neck joint and wonderful adirondack bracing, we knew these guitars would make quite the impression. (Greg Koch can't keep his hands off them!) We invite you to see what all the excitement is about and experience the Wildwood Limited '61 ES-335 Figured; a celebration of exceptional craftsmanship, exceptional partnership, and of course, exceptional customers.
