I think he's good and his jokes are genuinely funny, like his dig at the Queen tonight.

Not seen tonight's but enjoyed the last two.  I read his thing in The Times and fully support his rationale for being a bit harder and more sharp with contestants. Essentially that if you're only after a little bit of money to do up your garden, why are you on WWTBAM?

Saw the first two.  Thought he was pretty good.  Better than Tarrant, and quite funny on occasion.

I never watched Millionaire ( apart from the odd five minutes) and I don't like JC but either of those hosting it I'd tune into watch.

Is this series live? If it’s not a can’t help but wonder why they haven’t cut some of his “jokes” out, a lot of them fall really flat. 

But I do like the way he has little respect for both the format and the contestants.

He's clearly on "return to terrestrial TV best behaviour" - but he is rather surprisingly less annoying than Tarrant ever was. 

Does this mean the ex TISWAS presenter will now feature on Top Gear and patronise us there as well?

My friend was on last night.  Didn't get through the fastest finger thing.  Got it right both times, but slightly too slow.

Unlikely, I think he's semi retired now at 71. He's also on a 12 month driving ban.

Just watched this the other night. I thought Jezza did well.

 Shoul I ever appear on WWTBAM I'd choose Alexa as my  'phone a friend'.

I knew the answer because when I was a liitle kid (that's not a goat joke) I had a belt with a round metal buckle which had the word "Ibex" and a picture of a mountain goat.

I suspect Clarkson was thinking of an Oryx.

Anyway, I'm not a big Clarkson fan but I thought he'd be OK on this because the format doesn't let him run riot with stupid jokes about Germans.  And it was fine, I enjoyed this mini-series even though most of the contestants were spectacularly stupid (the one-legged bloke from Yorkshire, though, was a star).  I was surprised how hopeless the "ask the host" lifeline turned out to be, I expected Clarkson to have pretty decent general knowledge... but he doesn't.

I hope it comes back for a proper series.
