To be brief, they all look rather classy indeed (yes, even the Floyd Rose goldy mashup :) ). Stunning, in fact. But that 'burst P90/wrapover might just be perfect.

Thanks and that middle one is what I'm trying to get further away from this year, although saying that I was playing my burst today and they just suit me, so easy to play compared to the bolt on builds, it'll still be a nice one to get built

They all look great - the neck P90 (I'd say staple, but thats me) and bridge humbucker looks like win to me, my favourite pickup combination by a mile

No surprise you like staples, me too

A modern custom is planned this year, Marc does the adjustable replica ones

Mock up with the headstock, this will be one of the first I build, wraptail might change to a Faber or an adjustable wraparound other than that this is the vision
Looks great next to the ghetto amps, my 3x10 should be here soon

  • They look great.

Might just be me, but the Telecaster switch and knobs layout is something I find really unergonomic on my own Tele and have been meaning to do some trials on.
The switch can get in the way of strumming being right under the pickup, and the knobs are too far apart. The switch type is also difficult to change position quickly in between picking, always thought a LP type switch that flicks up/down would be a great improvement.

I use an angled switch on my telepaul and that works, also a different switch tip would work too but I might look into getting a 3 way switch in the plate now

Nice point so thanks for the input

Whilst waiting I decided to crack on with the new models, I've been dying to use this body, it only weighs 3.68lb now, I reckon 6.5lb finished
It's got an old limba neck, humbucker and p90 with stop tail and abr1, an aged amber finish like those old Vs is my thinking
Here's the pin router cutting the pocket and quick rough mockup

Just making a limba neck for this and put a maple filler strip over the top of a 2 way truss rod, vintage and modern coming together, I want maximum hide glue contact for it
Cut out a wenge fretboard for it and look at the colour with a bit of lemon oil, it's getting bound with dots like a special

Will the wenge keep that dark colour, or will it fade back to stripy brown again?

I've had it a good few years and it was naturally dark so I'm expecting it to stay like it

I'm building a DC junior in Spanish cedar with a Madagascan rosewood fretboard, it'll be an aged TV yellow finish
The neck should get glued in tomorrow with hot hide glue as usual for the important stuff

Cedar is interesting. Any particular reason?

It's Spanish cedar or cedrela it has alot of the same properties of lightweight Honduran, it's lightweight and very stable, ruokangas uses it alot in his builds, it's not cedar

I built another junior the same as this a couple of years ago and it was bloody fantastic so I know what I'm getting

I've got a Gordon Smith GS2 which is Spanish cedar.  If I hadn't known I'd have assumed it was a lightweight species of mahogany.

It does look a bit different and a completely different smell when using it, the open grain is bigger

I really like it, along with limba and my new one is an obeche body

Strung up and 7lb now, it's going to be a great guitar, neck needs tweaking but it plays lovely without a fret dress, always a good sign
The Faber wraparound is pretty spot on with intonation too
