Thanks @rossyamaha and no worries, can't say that the diagram makes a whole lot of sense to me either - I'll join you in not being an expert on these things.
In Helix there is a trim for playback in the global settings. It’s not the easiest to access but it’s still only a couple button presses away

you can’t access global settings through Helix edit however

    Great, thanks

Will the HX Stomp react "properly" to a boost pedal.

Like if I have an amp model set up on the edge of break up and I boost it in the front end with a separate, clean boost pedal like the Magnetic Effects Zola, will the amp model then be pushed into overdrive, like a real tube amp. Or will it just get louder?

Because im contemplating sacking off the amp for trade shows and just chucking this in the rucksack. Miles easier to carry about but I need it to perform exactly the same as an amp and be able to demo the fx pedals properly

Yes, as evidenced by the effect the use of the guitar's volume control has on the sound - it doesn't just get quieter or louder, the amount of drive changes.

However, you should be careful about chucking too big a signal into it, because the Helix family doesn't like insanely loud inputs.

If it's on the edge of breakup absolutely. Just like the real thing. If it's set clean, it will get louder.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

The bit I'm really struggling to work out from the manual is how it handles as an audio interface. I get that it passes audio to and from computer via USB but there's no suggestion of a screen where you can control monitoring levels or the like - not sure if anyone can shed light on this from a wider Helix perspective? For it to replace my audio interface would mean it's a definite purchase for me but it might be a bit too "light" in this functionality.
The master volume works as your level control. Is that what you mean?
Yes, but can you also control level of signal coming back from PC for monitoring?
Yes. Global Settings > Ins/Outs > USB In 1/2 Trim.

  • I'm guessing these still haven't landed...

I am still interested but I've been reading about it online and noticing that those 6 blocks can be taken up extremely quickly.

    Meh

It's nice for this guy that he got a video out if it and all but this is a non-thing.

You know what would be LESS board friendly? Making it bigger so that all the connectors were on one face.

As it is the unit is very small, great for many users, the most-used connectors are on the back, and there are other options there too.  Dude needs to invest in some angled midi connectors and chill the fuck out :-)

    Red ones are better.

I could comment. Easily. But I would probably use words that may be frowned upon so I will keep myself to myself and troll the video under an anonymous account like most people do.

Bill's OK. At least he likes the unit. He doesn't gig, just records albums, so I don't know why he doesn't replace his old Eleven rack with a Helix rack.

you can also get adjustable ones - they are not cheap but if you have cramped in/out and need one to exit in one direction and the other in the other it's sometimes the only way.

Mr CustomPedalBoards sells those ones in the UK
    Red ones are better.

Tread carefully they are not all created equally.

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I got "Disaster Area" brand ones - very good - can be rotated (after much fiddling) to almost any angle

    1) Our FAQ has mentioned octopuses from the day HX Stomp was announced.
    2) All the important jacks are on the back panel.
    3) Putting everything on the back would blow up the footprint.
    4) This is what 90° cable ends are for.
