1983/84 Squier Precision Bass
Made in Japan
JV Serial Number
Vintage and collectable Fender Squier Precision Bass. Made in Japan (JV Serial number). This was Fiesta Red when new which has now faded to the classic "Salmon Pink" as it's known. Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard These export series JV basses had more in keeping with the original vintage basses than the Japanese domestic series - this particular bass having been upgraded with a set of active EMG pickups. This bass was owned by a well known Irish showband bass player who also used the instrument when guesting for Don Felder (The Eagles) and many more big names. Provenance is available in respect of this for the new buyer.
As seen in the photos it has been well loved over the last 36 years - showing a few bumps and scrapes. There is however nothing to detract from the playability of this great instrument. The frets are in great shape and all electronics and hardware are in good working order.
This bass has a big round and warm sound in keeping with the vintage vibe. If your budget doesn't stretch to a pre CBS Fender, then these Japanese made reissues are an excellent alternative. This bass has been fully set up with a smooth action.

Comments
Perhaps, somebody was amused by the automatic spelling correction of Felder to "Fielder"?
Do my eyes deceive me or is that pickguard a three-ply?
As Mr FF possibly implied, an original would be four-ply (and would have hand-rest holes above and below the pickup).
The casings of EMG-P pickups are larger than the majority of passive P Bass pickups. Sometimes, it is necessary to enlarge the cut-out in the scratchplate to accommodate this.
An owner with an eye on future originality/collectibility value might choose to protect his or her investment by keeping the stock 'plate in original condition. There is an argument for purchasing and modifying an aftermarket replacement.
