black/gold finish

I've been playing around with "candy apple" finishes. i.e. a gold metallic colour with a colour tint over the top. I was wondering if anyone had tried a black tint over gold type finish? I wonder if a candy apple black finish would work. Obviously the black tint would need to be quite light. anyone tried anything like that?
