How do I increase the monitor level for the guitar I’m recording without increasing the volume of the rest of the mix?

I want the guitar I’m recording relatively louder in my cans than the mix without pushing the input into the red and buggering up the recording

Fryette Power Load > Apogee Duet > Garage Band with monitoring from the Duet

The answer was never 42 - it's 1/137 (..ish)

I don't know the Duet, but if it doesn't have a DAW-Input direct monitoring mix control (most interfaces do for exactly this reason), then the somewhat-klunkier way to do what you want is to turn down the channel volumes of the other tracks in GB.

Cheers @goldtop  - got me there in a roundabout way - figured out how to change the monitor mix in the Duet software

Another technique is to temporarily Mute any non-essential backing instrument parts while you record the current guitar part.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
